How the Second Generation of Video Game Consoles Is Really Two Distinct and Separate Generations

This infographic (courtesy of ZadocPaet of Reddit) discusses the heavy hitter consoles of yesteryear, such as the Atari 2600 and Mattel Intellivision, that were released between 1976 and 1979, onto the consoles released between 1982 and 1983, such as the Atari 5200 and the Sega SG-1000.

More importantly, it discusses how consoles released between 1982 and 1983 are a distinct generation of their own, despite what journalists at the time were claiming.
