Burning Up Out Here
Heya, folks! Lumpz the Clown here, and I can’t BELIEVE I haven’t updated you good folks on my inner workings in over a MONTH! My bad!
Not only have I been busy with Summer Brutality 2015, but I’ve also been doing some writing for other sites, as well! Further, I’ve also taken on a rigorous editing schedule that would surely bring the average citizen to their knees! “Why”, you may ask? Because you’re all worth it and I LOVE what I do!
So what exactly has your favorite Clowny Gamer been up to? Read on and find out!
Ah, yes! That notorious annual event that DIDN’T start out as an event! Last year, I took it upon myself to take advantage of the brutal desert conditions I’m subjected to every summer, and play some of the most difficult games from my collection! It’s a multi-part series, and included the likes of Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania III! Needless to say, I got stomped OVER AND OVER again!
Fast forward to 2015: I wanted to refine the event into something on a much grander scale! And then it hit me: I dedicate 2 hours of my time to one game over a 10 week period, without cheat codes, just as the developer intended! 10 games, 1 clown, ZERO mercy!
The playlist is included below!
No crybabies allowed!
Be sure to check out the Game List to see what’s on the menu to sate my self-destructive appetite, and follow me on Twitter and Facebook to stay updated! Game/time announcements are made every Wednesday at 7PM EST!
Now that I’m approaching the halfway point of the challenge, I’m asking YOU to vote for which game I’ll be playing on July 11th! The winner will be announced this Wednesday at 7PM EST! Vote below!
The turnout and participation for this event have been amazing, and I can’t thank you folks enough! What’s next?
Awesome Indie Games
I recently wrote an article for Gaming Rebellion where I shared six of my favorite, fresh indie games! All of these span across multiple genres, such as SHMUPS, first-person horror, roguelikes and MORE!
Many of these are available on Steam, and I include links to the developers’ websites and where you can buy them as well! The indie scene is buzzing right now, and I’m excited to see what’s next!
This needed to be said. It seems that the trolls, tinfoil hats and marketing “geniuses” come out of the woodwork after every E3, and 2015 was no exception. Granted, I harbor my own inner hopes on which titles I’d like to see announced, but I don’t get soul-crushingly disappointed when they’re not realized.
And I think that’s where a lot of folks get it wrong. I understand having a deep passion for video games (hell, they even served as my babysitter after my parents’ divorce), but when your very sanity and sense of self are challenged when an event doesn’t go your way, it’s time to take a look at yourself.
Just because someone isn’t happy with an announcement doesn’t give them free reign to piss all over your parade, either. I also feel that the petition to stop development on Metroid Prime: Federation Force is a complete joke and a blight on our industry. Do we really want to start intervening on the creative process? Have we really sunk that low?
Read the article over on ScrewAttack, and remember to be nice to your fellow gamers! 🙂
Off the Grid
Just beat this recently!
Between my crazy editing schedule and IRL shit, a clown simply has to unwind once in awhile. I realize that the life of a YouTuber and writer tend to get in the way of the very hobby that spurred it in the first place: playing video games for fun!
As a result, I’ve started allowing myself to revisit some titles I have not been able to complete in the past! Castlevania: Rondo of Blood has been on my bucket list for quite some time, and about 2 months ago, I resolved to beat it, no matter how long it took! Well, I DID beat it just last weekend, and if you think I’m playing, here’s the Facebook post!
Now that I’ve beaten one of the most notoriously difficult games in the Castlevania franchise, it’s time to move onto yet another monster: Castlevania III!
As none of these sessions have been recorded yet, I’ll be getting up my skill and hopefully knocking out the whole original trilogy plus Rondo of Blood in future episodes, so stay tuned!
Perhaps a Halloween-themed approach? Only time will tell!
The Gamers’ Tent
I’m still accepting submissions for The Gamers’ Tent! Examples of what I’m looking for includes: 1) obscure video game reviews, 2) poetry, 3) unpopular opinions and 4) first gaming memories!
I’d love to hear about what drove you into this hobby in the first place (my grandmother sent my brother and me our first Nintendo!), and what it means to you! Even better, I’ll take it upon myself to make it pretty and promote your article across the interwebz!
To give you an example of an unpopular opinion of my own: I LOVE Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest and am well aware that I’m part of a tiny minority!
Suck it, haters!
If you’re not sure what to write about, hit me up and let’s talk! This is still a fairly new concept, and I’m totally open to suggestions!
A Heartfelt Thanks
And finally, I want to take the time to thank every single one of you for your support! Pre-Internet, the only place I’d be able to get my “geek talk” on would be the schoolyard, but with the rise of YouTube and social media, I now get to share my passion for video games with amazing folks from all over the globe!
When you put it into that context, it’s absolutely UNBELIEVABLE! Where we were all picking our noses and our ass cracks a few (or a lot of) years back, we are now sharing awesome memories with like-minded folks from everywhere!
Without you, there would be no Lumpz the Clown Entertainment, and I can’t thank you enough! #Salute
